BIG SIGH OF RELIEF!
Tuesday, May 15th, 2007 | School | 3 Comments
So, I’ve been in touch with the Dean at CU and I was smart in copying the School of Management Chair there at CU in regards to the tremendous amount of frustration I’ve had over my research thesis! LOW & BEHOLD, I shouldn’t have event STARTED on my research thesis UNTIL I’ve taken MBA 511 which is the class the Chair of the school instructs.
Okay so WHO KNEW!!! While I’ll take an incomplete in MBA 598 (research thesis) I will be able to make it up when I take MBA 511 in the fall and then finish with the final paper document in Spring of ‘08! Do you know what this means????? It means I don’t have to work on this freakin project anymore and to that I say AMEN and HALLELUJAH!!!
I have more time back which is extremely stress relieving…aside from browsing jobs and throwing my resume around like a cheap prom dress…..well maybe not that cheap I mean I must maintain some element of integrity. Hopefully someone will be interested in all that I have to offer.
So it’s a gorgeous day out and I’m excited to meet Miranda for Happy Hour this afternoon at Jade. Phew, I can now just concentrate on my finance class and start working on the paper due this weekend along with studying for the next exam. Phew! It’s a day to rejoice.
My way of making it through school and this holiday season…

Thanksgiving week fly by and the test to not overly stress….
Wednesday, November 29th, 2006 | Food, School, work | No Comments
I can sense my patience wearing when things take longer than they ultimately should, but I’m learning to just try to do the best I can to…take a deep breath… relax and relish in the moment, by not stressing about all the things I could be doing that are far more productive than waiting.
Thanksgiving week flew far too quickly, nevermind I didn’t even give myself a day off to just sit on the couch and cuddle with kitty much, but the time I did spend with family and friends was wonderful and delightful and I wouldn’t have changed a thing except for taking Monday off to mentally get back to the idea of Work and School.
The week’s events were as folllowed:
Wednesday night - R & I went to dinner at Halibuts II, which was amazingly delicious, spendy but really good Halibut fish and chips. Then to Binks for drinks then we met up with Martin and his new fiance for drinks at around 10pm, as they flew into town to go to Bend to spend Thanksgiving with his parents there.
Thursday - Thanksgiving feast enjoyed with my sister, brother in law and nephews. Total driving time was 5 hours. At least we did get home by 9:30 or so and kitty was rambunctious as ever, finally he relaxed and cuddled a bit into the evening.
Friday - A delightful fondue night with a small group of friends that we adore to introduce Arthur Guinness, and boy was he spoiled. Showered with pressies and lots of love and play time. He eventually konked out during our 80’s Trivia fun, but woke back up as the evening played on. Thanks to the friends who could come and thanks for all of your love and tremendous generosity for our kitty. We’ll try to get a few batches of friends over at a time to meet him. I thought it might be overwhelming to invite all of our friends at one time. So I hope to have another evening with friends that still have yet to meet Mr. Guinness.
Saturday - Out to the Laurelwood to meet friends past co-workers of Ryan’s, C&C for dinner and some beer. Good beer. Wierd to have 16 oz. traditional pint shaped glass versus the 20oz. Made me feel small or at least the beers seemed small. Lots of kiddies running all over the place as it is a family friendly joint, excellent food. We may be back.
Sunday - Drove out to Banks to see grandma and show her and Guinness’s previous owners pictures of Arthur Guinness now and how much we love them and I hope they don’t regret us taking him away. We saw his sister, Harriet, total fluff ball. Amazing to see Guinness’s face amongst a ball of fur. I asked if she missed him, she just sort of stared at me with those eyes, eyes so similar to Guinness’s and so I think she’s doing fine without him. I told Guinness she says hello and he just meowed.
Then to mom and dad’s to enjoy a delicious dinner of more fresh Halibut, deep fried deliciousness in celebration of Nicki’s (sister-in law’s) birthday. It’s tradition that mom hosts our birthday’s and she always showers us with gifts, food and amazing desserts.
Got home around 9:15 or so and then it hit me. I have to not only go back to work, but I need to look at what is in store for school work. With Business Finance I know I’m going to have a really hard time. Again, there is a paper due 12/4 and 12/11 and more reading. Stress took over, started trying to get organized and mentally accept and prepare for all of the work ahead.
So much to do, so little time. Okay, so I just have to remember to breath and the more I can find the patience to get me through, I know I will be fine. Of course my biggest de-stresser is the play and cuddle time with Arthur Guinness, I may think about what all I coulde be doing but I certainly relish the time with him.
You can call me…..”Tweek Tweak”

“Tweek Tweak” yes that is his name and for those of you who don’t know him, he is one character in which I can truly identify with at this time. The Caffiene induced, anxious and almost neurotic character of the South Park bunch, he is the epitome of what a child can be when coffee becomes not just the drink of choice but drug of choice. So, here it is……
My Ode to Tweek Tweak.
Tweek Tweak, oh how you shiver and shake
only to live up to your true name’s sake
strung out on coffee and caffeine
Life goes by unsightly even partly unseen
Without form and without focus
To cure it would take some hocus pocus
So daily it just becomes routine
to have your numerous cups with no suger, a little cream
I’m sure we’ve all been there before
after too many we know what’s in store
a few trembles a few shakes
Your bodies sort of own earthquakes
To you, my friend I owe much empathy
as for me, well, here’s to my 2nd, 3rd, 4th wonderful cup of, delicious, satifying and comforting……coffee.
The end!
I still want a kitty. ![]()
Multitasking..task master
Tuesday, September 19th, 2006 | School, work | 7 Comments
So, to truly maximize my time, I have now approached each second of the day with much fervor to accomplish as much as possible. This can only mean the true embracement of what we all have come to know and love as multitasking. It could also be a result of the incredible amount of workload in work and school that we are expected to accomplish over a short period of time. Therefore, it is to my own advantage to extract as many milliseconds of opportunity in a second that I can and applying it to doing something productive. Here are my strategies.
While driving in the car - listening to…..
Podcasts (The most ingenious of products out in the internet, i-tunes world today)
So far I have been; enjoying blips off of the BBC, getting dialect training for the next time I visit the U.K. ;
French language lessons, reciting phrases such as “Bonjour, Je m’appelle Kelly, j’habite Portland, Oregon, Vous presentez mon frere, Jacque, au revior, A bientot”.
In preparation for when I next travel to France, I will hopefully be far more fluent than the last time I was there. Which the extent was “Ummm parlez vous englais? Je voudrais cafe au lait, si vous plait, ou je suis desoulez” ( Please note spelling needs work too… when could I fit that in?)
While in the gym working out - this is quite harder as I usually run the 5 miles in an hour, I will have to take on the ellyptical so that I may read and move at the same time, it’s far too difficult to read and run, but the elliptical makes it easy. I finished reading a case in an hour while burning calories. Unfortunately, it’s not as intensive of a workout and will need to find more time for activities to get the optimum physical workout that running 5 miles provides. Yikes.
While cooking - Reading can take place there as well. Re-reading more like, highlighting and stirring with a whisk, that is talent.
I think that is the extent of my current multitasking abilities, until I find more. Of course I can already chew gum, walk & talk at the same time.
Soon, I might just be able to type up a paper while juggling with my feet, now wouldn’t that be some amazing accomplishment!
The Key here is
- Maximizing Time! Hmmmmmm.
Letting Go…………..
Friday, September 8th, 2006 | School | 2 Comments

There comes a point to when you are either FORCED to let go, or,
you finally realize it’s just about gosh darn time to say, “It’s DONE”!
Due time Midnight tonight. Deadline met with a few hours left and counting!
Mission- to complete 3 Extremely comprehensive essays about 3 extremely time intensive studies on Business Management Theory, one being a Case study on Nordstrom’s.
Go figure!
I have reached maximum capacity for any further intelligent analysis on these essay responses.
Upon completion of the essays, I of being perfection sound mind, re-read, re-wrote, re-read again and continued on that editing platform, not realizing my biggest struggle would be ensuring it is aligned in the APA style (whatever APA means) along with citing all references (APA) meaning, quoting direct references and even those that are so implied. Well, I have a ton of implied references of course, one of the most creative pieces of writing is being able to basicaly conjure a new way of saying what had already been said in the reading, creatively, intelligently and accurately but most of all not the same way, not using the same words at least.
No pressure, but it is pressure. Pressure to perform well, however, this is the first assignment and I can only hope that in graduate school, they grade on a curve…right?
So, I have finally….”let go” with the adjunct to my instructor ” This first experience will be a major learning for me and for others I imagine. I hope to refine and develop my writing abilities and get a better understanding of effective case writing as we venture forward in this class.”
That should ensure at least an “A for Effort” right? Ah now it’s time to focus on the next assignment.
FINANCES…. “run away”….”run away”….
Oh, wait….first thing first.. now where is that bottle of wine???????
