The Tropical Hibiscus “Queen of the Tropics”

We are certainly far from any kind of “tropical” environment, however, they seem to be relishing in our backyard just fine. Here is a picture of our Hibiscus happily blooming.
It gives me such pleasure to see these saucer like flowers blossom out of our untilled and unfertalized backyard. It’s been an amazing adventure seeing all the blooming flowers and plants and trees in our backyard. It’s a definite reward at the end of the day, to see a garden grow. R’s been extremely proud of his pepper plants that he calls his “babies”. Further information on the Hibiscus is available in The Tropical Hibiscus Handbook available thru the American Hibiscus Society. Some types hibiscus have been used to make dyes and others have been used as food. Fascinating.

Had to share this picture, I’m in awe of my camera’s macro photo capability. Here’s one I took during our last vacation to England. Love it.
