Swimming in Snow!

Wow! This is a record breaking year for snow accumulation on the Portland living room floor. We have at least a foot of snow. Holy cow I don’t remember being in snow like this since my family lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota and I was like 5 years old. Crazy. I love it.

It’s as if mother nature wants us to slow down for a bit, and I don’t blame her one bit. What better way to force people to stay home, tend to the needs of their family and others and discontinue driving and busily going about their days and worrying about the holidays. Maybe this is a good thing.

It’s amazing really. I am enjoying the time home, there is no doubt. I made peanut butter cookies yesterday and it seems like a lot of my friends are baking or cooking or doing something to pass the time. Something that makes home a home, it’s comfort, warmth and safety that we relish during times like these.

My eyes are glued to the news, only so I can keep up-to-date on all the events and people affected by these conditions. I am just thankful, so thankful to be safe and warm and home. :)

What is wonderful is, I’ve been able to catch up on making my Christmas Cards and Christmas Presents. :) I even came up with new Christmas presents I can make for family and friends. Luckily I have the majority of my Christmas shopping done, so that’s good, especially the presents for family that are in Kansas, Arizona and California. I got all of those wrapped or ordered online and shipped out. Phew. :)

Christmas will still come but the celebrations with the family may be a day or two delayed. We’ll see, either way, I’m just so happy to live walking distance from New Season’s a Walgreens, ample pubs and especially Kennedy School, in the case of us feeling a little bit of Cabin fever.

Blessings to our family and friends in hopes for a safe and warm place to be with ample treats and goodies with the people you love.

One of my coworkers’ hubbies decided to go to Seattle on Saturday and now he is stranded, there are no trains or planes or even rental cars to take back to Portland, everything is booked until after Christmas. So we can only hope and pray he makes it back home in time for Christmas! Think good thoughts that he can make it home.
