Bite of S

seattle.JPGSeattle….

Okay so the past weekend was really a whirlwind. Picked up the monstrous Ford Expedition, aka “Beast” as I called it. Loaded it up with all our stuff for the Bite and drove up 10am Thurs. July 17. Made it, Phew.

Stayed at the Vintage Park Hotel. Very comfy, very cozy… I LOVED the bed. I swear I am going to find out how I can replicate that bed. It was heaven. I only wish I could have spent more time lying in it.

The Bite was no breeze. Basically we were up and ready by 10am and sampled with guests and attendees until 7:30pm on all three days of the Bite (18, 19 & 20). Our first day on Friday was horrendous. We tried to trade with other vendors for treats, water.. etc. We got a TON of chocolate and luckily we got some water, which was absolutely a requirement, Seattle was far hotter than we expected.

Friday night after working we went to Pink Door for dinner, which was awesome! It’s a must go to in Seattle. My colleagues’ husband and brother and friend joined us at pink door. We then checked out the “Kells” in Seattle, which was super charming with an Irish band jigging it out and there were views outside the windows of the bay. I really had a few too many glasses of wine at Pink Door then followed by ample black & Tans at Kells, by the time we got back to the hotel, I was done for and not looking forward to the next day of 9 hours more sampling.
Saturday, colleague was overwhelmed by office work, luckily her hubby and friends were there and helped us out. While they spent a large portion in the VIP tent where there was ample free booze, we Tilla ladies got a major break from the day. So that was nice.

Hangover was not pretty, but get a huge coffee with cream and a yogurt parfait in me and I’m golden.

Food was abundant as were people during the day. We noticed a LOT of the following: strollers, pregnant moms and families with 3+ kids. Wow.

After Saturday, I was ready for a nap and after working the event we went to a late dinner at Wild Ginger. It’s a sort of asian fusion, mixed with sushi, thai and pan asian. I had veggie noodles. I wasn’t overly impressed honestly. It had too large of veggies on the plate and not a variety of veggies either. It was good, but not as delicious as I have had at… Khun Pic’s or Tuk Tuk. I got pretty homesick that evening, didn’t drink as I felt a needed a break and following dinner we went to downtown Seattle to see the club life and it was CRAZY.

Nightlife in Seattle is really no party. We walked into a few bars only to end up leaving as soon as we entered. We finally made it to Del Ray, which is a “hot” spot according to some. Well it sucked. Wall to wall people, hussies, jocks and rude people at the bar. People weren’t moving at all. No wonder we had to wait outside for like 5 minutes before we could get in, they were at over capacity already.

I just was not in the mood and while, yes I am the oldest of the people I am with, there was a comment in which one of the boys recognized and commented that, Kelly,  “Yeah you’re too old for this shit”…. well to tell it like it is. Yes.

So, with that I made a very graceful escape, caught a cab and landed back in the hotel room. peace, quiet and in the MOST heavenly bed ever made. Ahhhh.

Sunday, met with work, work, work and then dinner at Elephant and Castle then I got to drive us all back to Portland. The boys drove in the car ahead so it was almost like a caravan which was comforting in some ways. They even pulled off of the road to check on us when I stopped to get gas.

Made it home by midnight, bed by 1am and then up the next morning back to work at 9am. Joy. So it’s been full speed ahead. Even counting the working till 8pm on Tuesday to prepare for meeting on Wed.
I am looking forward to camping this next weekend. No work, no responsibility.. all frivoloty, sitting and no talking. I even said that after this event I will swear to no talking for at least a few hours if not a few days.

While all my swimsuits and camping outfits are tighter than tight, I got a refresh of some tops today and at this point, don’t care, I’m relaxing, enjoying life and at least R. still loves me. :)

See Pictures from the event here.
