4th of July weekend
Sunday, July 6th, 2008 | General
It’s Sunday evening and in reflection of the 4th of July weekend, I would say it was a good one.
Work has been undeniably busy, somewhat stressful, and I say that only because the next trip is at the forefront of my brain and all of the details that are yet to be determined, hanging there at an unresolved location, it’s a little nerve wracking.
But, we had a nice mellow bbq with L&D and M&B. I made a Sangria that was a little stronger than I had anticipated and so I got a little “happy”, but it was nice to just kick back and enjoy a bbq dinner outside and I got some sparklers so that was fun, to play with those.
Saturday was relatively productive. I picked up most of the travel items I will need for when I hit the plane on Thursday, plus I baked a blueberry pie that morning to bring to a friend’s intimate BBQ at their newly bought house. It’s good to see M&J in a house, they deserve it and with an adorably mobile 2.5 year old, well it’s good they have more space for Miss Bethie to run around in.
It was good to catch up with M&J and E&B were there as well, without the boys, one of whom just celebrated their 6th birthday. It’s so incredibly hard to believe just how fast the time has gone by. I cannot believe it. Catching up with them was fun.
It’s such an experience to observe people or actually, parents talk about their children. There is always a lesson to be learned or a reflection to note that is intrinsic to the character that is sprouting from the body of their child. It’s also interesting to hear them talk about other parents their friends and their kids. There’s always ample stories.
So, today was filled with lots of to-do’s and I feel good in getting some of those to-do’s accomplished. Cleaned up spare room, got it all organized and ready for company over the 8th & 9th. I had looming work projects that needed to get in today, done. So that was good.
Went for a lazy run. I say lazy because 1/2 way in my body just fought back, tummy was not liking the running stride and so I stopped and walked. If this continues I’m going to have to really up my wardrobe, because it’s not so easy to shimmy into jeans anymore, it’s going to have to be a new size up, a new size bigger, Gawd this 35 business isn’t going well.
So with work, S&C coming and then knowing the next two weekends will be me on the road, I’m feeling a little more stressed than I had anticipated. But at least we had a nice 4th of July weekend. Time with friends and fun with those who we love.
I hope your 4th was as good if not better.

Ignore the number. It’s really just your 7th 29th birthday you had. I’ve had 9 of ‘em and the last three were the best. ![]()
