June’s Heat
Sunday, June 29th, 2008 | General
How did June race by so fast, leaving us in it’s heat.
It’s hot here, no doubt. It says 96 degrees. Joy.
Well, looking back at the week starting Wed. June 25th, I successfully organized a fun “teambuilding” event for the firm at Square Deal Wine. They conducted a wine & cheese pairing class for us. Starting with a prosecco, they took us through France and Italy with two wonderful whites paired nicely with a, I believe, sheep’s milk cheese? cannot remember exactly, but it was delicious.
We then enjoyed two blends of reds paired with one of my absolute favorite cheeses, Comte, and then closed with a delicious dessert wine, not too sweet. With ample bread and select olives everyone looked forward to the cookies made by Two Tarts Bakery which was the creation of one of the Square Deal Wine’s owner’s wives.
The firm was extremely generous in their “thank you’s” to me and “great job, Kelly”. I really appreciated the effort Square Deal put into it and certainly glowed in the positive feedback.
So, yesterday was fun, volunteering at the NAOBF. I got to pour beer, which I’ve never done before, I would have to say it fits me quite well. Just confirms the fact that I do enjoy working in the service world, providing good drink to people who are just as friendly as apple pie.
The heat wasn’t fun, but I endured. The two kegs I was serving from blew by 7:30 and so I got lucky by getting done with my shift early. The shift was 5:30 - 9:00. So I got to meet up with Ry in time and we made it GD birthday gathering at Rose.
So today will be interesting. Miranda’s coming over and Ry’s going to drive us to Overlook for our volunteer shifts today at the NAOBF 11:30- 5:00. So please stop on by. I know Ry and other friends will be lending their support, lending by way of drinking beer.
It’ll be a fun fulfilling yet quite warm day.
