My latest “obsession”

I usually am very particular about how I spend my time. Lately I’ve just been a pure couch potato and one show that is the most reality like that I will admit to watching and has become my latest guilty pleasure is….”Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares”.
Both R & I have admitted to our succumbing to the intrigues and pure dramas that is Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares.
I love it. I love the painful uncomfortableness that is produced from the confrontations that occur between Ramsay and the particular kitchen hands and chefs he interacts with, it’s just plain awesome and a good learning for anyone and everyone.
You must know that if you own a restaurant and Ramsay is coming to “check it out” you are pretty much.. “in big trouble”.
I think one of my favorites is when Ramsay is in Paris. He visits a VEGETARIAN restaurant in Paris. 80% of Parisians are meat eaters. How in the world can a veggie restaurant survive. Well if anyone has an answer….. it’s Gordon.
One classic episode is this one. The owner is a complete princess. Her father has paid for this amazing restaurant for her. She is owner and manager and eventually through all of the episodes she basically throws it away. You Tube has it all. It’s awesome!
This Kills… KILLS me! I am really fascinated by the hospitality industry. Especially around food. I love food. I love to cook food and I love to entertain.. when I can.
Basically, for 2008, it’s a stellar year and at this time, especially in P town, we are at the height of the food era. People are talking about the importance of food and nutrition, local, sustainable, flavors, balances and especially taste. Food is IN! I’m taking it in too.
It’s no wonder Gordon is in his element now. He’s got amazing business sense, marketing sense and just plain good food sense. It’s always a learning experience and what’s better is what we learn as viewers and what we can see improvements through others’ painfulness. If that makes sense. While it’s scary to see the conditions of some of the kitchens that Ramsay goes into.
It’s good to know he’s around. He can ensure that at least the British food scene has integrity and now the Parisianne vegetarian scene has a bright and aspiring new chef in Ramsay’s kitchen now.
Ahhhh nothing like Ramsay to reassure how life may be work but you chose how you let your work affect your life.
