What would Samantha Brown Do?

The empirical question of the year? Or, just an observation that Samantha Brown has THE most Kick A#% job on the entire planet.
That’s because she basically gets to tour all the most fabulous of places on the planet with a manifested unlimited budget. I’m not envious…just jealous!
R’s recorded all of the Passport to Europe’s and I’m addicted. I watched her prancing through France gobbling up all culture and delicacies of the regions and touting it in our faces. Well I’m suckered into the T.V. and savoring every moment of her lavish lifestyle with saliva dripping over my nightie and into my Bellini. How is that she always stays at the places that are so exquisite and refined with a view that would leave Queen Victoria in a plot to overtake it, mesmerized by the detail while spouting, “and its only $400 Euros a night… of course I got the penthouse suite” of course you did Samantha… why you would take nothing less.
Is it a plot to deter us? To make us simply realize that traveling is just TOO expensive and we should nevermore dream of blanketing the lands of Europe with our footsteps? Ahhhh or is it a teensy tiny tactic to help us envision what the lap of luxury is doing while we’re shacked up in our mere 2 ** hotel and holding in our bellies just to walk to the bathroom while in Brittany?
Regardless…. I admit, I’m hooked…. like Ryan is to Beer and Ghost Dog is to the Steelers 
I cannot wait to venture out of this country again. I long to experience life and culture outside of this secluded, self-centered, capitalistic society. Although, being in Portland I feel fortunate. Portland has put itself on the map as being far more consciencous of keeping it “local”. Buying, selling, trading… it’s in the mix and abounds in our neighborhood (Love living in NE).
So my homage to Samantha is this “keep traveling, keep exploring, keep making us dream, keep spending, keep taping and keep entertaining”. If I can vicariously live through someone, I would want that someone to be you! Let’s see if we can’t just kick Rick Steve’s out of the traveling journalism field altogether eh? Whad’ya say? ”
