Here’s to Human Resources

My current MBA class has, by far, been the most interesting, rewarding and rejuvenating. I actually look forward to receiving my grades on my papers. I received this comment on my first paper, “Great job on your paper you earned an A.”
And then on the second one he wrote, “For your second assignment you earned an ”A.” You wrote a very nice paper.”
What a breath of fresh air, in comparison to the previous professors. I truly appreciate this professor’s Liberal viewpoints and passion for the human experience. He currently works as the HR manager of a Steel manufacturer. So he is definitely a lobbyist for the rights of the individual in the workplace.
In class this weekend he had us watch a very controversial documentary called “The Corporation“. I truly found it incredibly informative and completely astonishing. Here we are….MBA students with MO’s that fall into the “how to maximize shareholder wealth” schema and we get to watch something that deepens and broadens just how evil and greedy corporations can be and truly question the actual contribution corporations provide to enhance the human experience.
There was a definite mix of reactions to the film in class. While some viewed it as just depressing and some appreciated what was learned, others just had no expression at all. This astounds me, however, these are MBA students looking to one day contribute to a business’s competitive advantage… which seems to be the overall theme of the program.
I truly encourage everyone to watch this film. You’ll be packing to move to Norway in no time, I’m convinced.

i\’ve been packed for a bit now. Saw Sicko the other night. We now have pretty cruddy insurance options, so it makes me even more upset…
Totally! I have yet to see Sicko, it’s on the “to see’ list.
Just take care of that gorgeous boy (Duncan)
and take care of you and try to enjoy the season without getting all consumed in the capitalism of the holiday.
Happy Christmas and Merry New Year.
