Extra’s Anyone

So, I interviewed for a great and promising job last week and yesterday I was given the “thank you for applying, we have chosen a more suitable candidate” which really quite disappointed me… I was really hoping for this opportunity and now with Christmas coming and tuition bills coming… I figured “what the hell” and thought I would see what the “Extra’s” call was all about.
I made the call on the advert. I got about 10 minutes of fluff from some guy sounding like he was reading from a teleprompter and apparently he would “represent” me, I just need to first fulfill the $39 convenience / registration charge. Never mind there were a number of other “conditions” to this “agreement”. I would need to be available on a moments notice for anywhere from 2-5 hours at a time, I would be “background” to any filming that might be happening in the Portland metro area..blah.. blah…blah….
I said “I didn’t realize there was a charge” and he responded with “well when you make your decision to join, call back” and then he hung up. So obviously this has happened before. Basically.. if I get called to be an extra for one call, I lose that “registration” fee and if I DO get called for a long shoot then I might get paid up to $50 an hour, which really turns out to be about maybe $20, for the first hour…I would definitely make more especially if I am there up to the 5 hours of filming.
Unfortunately, and I am sorry, but you won’t see me in any background to any movie filmed in Portland soon. First, I have no inclination to pay a $39 “fee” when actors are getting PAID monumentally just to be in the film and for me to be there to make that film look natural and real.. well.. why should I pay them at all. They need extras! Therefore, I’m not falling for it! While some wonderful Sephora gift packages taunt me with their eye-shadow and lip- gloss combo.. I know I must abstain! It’s not for me. My Current dough $$$ … well…..it’s for those I love and those socially conscious movements to make a difference that I really find value to spend my hard earned money! Right?….. Right!
Sorry, not going to enter the “extra’s” field … at least not yet. I may reconsider in like a month.. but that’s it!

Thanks for the “raw raw” about the perfect job, the only thing is I’m getting far too cozy and comfy in this whole not-working situation. It’s going to be extra painful going back to work, but the paycheck will make it worth it… right?
R is my proud sugar daddy but I still don’t feel right about it! It’s like I’m a kept woman but without the penthouse and diamonds and well the “other” woman is certainly no factor in this situation.
