Got my whistle, got my coaches…what’s to keep me from succeeding

Okay! So, all you wonderful people around me are reminding me to appreciate the time off.
Take this time to discover and find what I “really” want to do.
Don’t settle for what is familiar.
Keep seeking that which speaks to me and my passions.
Take the time to realize my dream job.
So often I think, and think and think some more. What is my dream job. Depressed at not finding self worth in not working, I decided to seek some coaching. I saw a job counselor today which was good, she’s going to work with me on finding that dream job. I will be seeing a career coach and taking an interviewing workshop tomorrow. Later this week I will be taking a class on “Identifying my career assets” . This is all apart of the figuring out what I’m good at approach to finding a job. What was reassuring was my counselor today told me it took one of her clients 8 months to go through the interview and hiring process at a large appararel organization. So, these things take time.
Ah but let’s just live a little and see what things I love to do and combine them with a sort of job.
Travel writer? Wine enthusiast distributor and art aficianado - MOMA representative? Theatre drop out that might like to drop back in? Pub owner? Art gallery owner/manager? Vegetarian food editor? Vegetarian chef? Pastry chef? Kitty day care? Doggie / kittie groomer? Bookstore/wine bar/ coffee bar place? Poetry publisher? Children’s book writer? Music teacher? Teach kids how to appreciate classical music or Opera? Help organizations develop a giving strategy to support local non-profits? Manage events? Catering?
I had a dream at 50 I would own my own art gallery. I don’t know we’ll see about that.
Basics of the dream job is having a 401K so that I may be assured of a relatively cozy and comfortable retirement.
So, share with me, if you will, what do you feel your worth is that is beyond your job?

Honestly, spending time with you… and spending time with friends & family. When it comes down to it (in the end) there’s not much more to life than that. ![]()
Thank you so much. That means a million.
You are right in finding life’s true treasures in the friends and family that we keep. Thank you for reminding me of that and continuing to remind me.
I’m extremely fortunate.

Spot on, Ryan.
Kel, don’t become a pastry chef. PLEASE. I’d have to become a total gym rat or give up and get huge.
Beyond family and friends and work, what’s my worth? Wasn’t all that much until just over a year ago. Ski patrolling really is fun, and rewarding.
I think being a travel writer would rule. But I’d just review ski resorts and pubs near ski resorts. Not that having a niche is a bad thing… ![]()
Awesome GD! I love it.
Yeah well, I definitely wouldn’t benefit much from being a pastry chef either, I’d be in serious trouble.
Thanks for sharing ![]()

I have gone through this career search/soul search/what am i good for kind of journey a while ago. This was when I was going to school but was not sure which direction to head. It certainly is a thought consuming process, but once you find that thing that you have to do, and you know that it can work, it is so liberating. I am still heading toward my goal and the journey has been half of the reward.
Keep on searching and exploring…its a rollercoaster!
: )
Thank you, Aymie!
It’s always a comfort to know I am not alone. ![]()
