What a Week! Friends, Birthdays, Showers, Food, Wine, Beer… Loved it!

So our dear friends who have been staying with us for a week are now gone. Back to the Big Apple. It was truly nice to have them here and I got to enjoy so much good food & fun, I can hardly stand the quiet that now echoes through the house.
But here’s a re-cap of the fabulousness that ensued.
Wednesday - Friends Arrive. Luckily I am still unemployed so enjoyed the time even more. We went to Laughing Planet on Mississippi for lunch. Then came home while they got a nap in and I re-wrote my paper. Got that done through a little bit of editorial help from S. Thank you! I got a 90 on that one! I was soooo thrilled. Then we went to The Delta for Dinner! Since I was done with my paper and it was turned in, I enjoyed a cocktail or two. What was amazing was the strawberries that had soaked for weeks in Tequila (I think) and rolled in sugar. Holy cow! What a treat.
Thursday - Scrumptious Cuban Lunch at Pambiche
Friday - Fabulous evening Birthday Celebration for C at Snooks. BBQ where I had enchiladas from Sapphire, which were amazing! Thanks Snooks!
Everything was delicious. I also brought a bottle of Barbera D’asti that I got from Square Deal. Yummy! Smooth and velvety. Loved it. We were lucky the stars were out and the evening was moderate and nice except for Brian who apparently was freezing, and who really needs more fat on his bones.
Saturday - Went shopping along 23rd with C. Loads of fun although raining, it was a good time while the boys went to Ground Control to play video games. Then met at Khun Pic’s Bahn Thai where I had THE BEST thai food ever. The Spring rolls were amazing, their peanut sauce is awesome. Everything is fresh and fixed by the owner, there are only two running the place. Husband and wife routine and if you plan to go, you may have a wait, but the wait is worth it. It’s hard to find too, behind overgrowth, so if you want to go, let me know, I’ll certainly go with you! I had Phad Thai, which was delicious. Ry had the Thai Fried Rice, he also was amazed as to how good it was. Definitely worth a visit! Then we went back to our place and played the funniest game I’ve ever heard of “Killer Rabbits” , it was a bit of a process to learn the game and we played one round and I won! YOO HOO! Cause I got the winning carrot.
Sunday - Big Shower for C Day! It was so fun. She was surprised and in tears, it was the best. We played celebrity baby game, Baby Shower Bingo and Baby shower Pictionary. Everyone of C’s friends were wonderful and just easy to please. C got lots of great loot. After, the girls met up with the boys at our local haunt, Kennedy School. What a great day!
Monday - Worked diligently on the next paper for school more. I stayed up on Sunday working on it till 2am in hopes to at least get 1/2 way through. Then woke at I think 11ish and attacked it all day long. Finally wrapping it up by 5ish, just in time to get ready to meet C & S and Miranda for dinner at Montage, which is one of the last definite places C&S wanted to go to before leaving our lovely state. Bottle wine was at half price so I had to buy one of course and luckily S &C bought a bottle for dinner and it was the kind they enjoyed while in France, yes I was hooked and therefore a bottle I took.
Then back to home to fester more with the paper, have R read over for clarity and grammar, luckily for me S&C came home before my paper was due in and S& Ry were working their editorial magic and we got it in by 11:45, just 15 minutes before due time. Phew!
Tuesday- Ah….
parting is such sweet sorrow. I will miss them. Luckily there was time for brunch so I took them to Tin Shed. It’s almost always packed. Luckily for us, we arrived just in time to sit out on the patio and enjoy.
We hope to have enticed them enough to want to come back and I think they will. With a baby on the way, it’s so hard to know how life will change for them. I wish them well and if I am not employed by Aug. I’m looking at a little trip there to visit with them and enjoy the wonders and the food that their side of the world can offer. I hope to pay a visit, and of course I hope to get a job at the same time. Dilemma…dilemma! ![]()
