A loss for…..

Words.

The tragedy of Virginia Tech, the suicide bombings in Iraq, the threats of Al Quaeda, water treatment scare, bomb threats on college campuses, pet food recall, our amazing Planet Earth provided by Discovery, Visions of space from Hubble, global warming, the world that is finance, a new blog entry that readers would find interesting…. etc. You get the picture.

spa2.jpg Today, my official day at the Dosha Salon Spa, was a loss for words too and I think I was just happy to live out the day as a mute. Utilizing the most generous gift certificate I received upon my last day of employment, from my colleagues I was really looking forward to a day of pure leisure and luxury. The appt. was for 9am, the time they ask you to arrive? 8:45 a.m. I left at 8:30 only to become stressed by traffic as it was taking me longer to get to Hawthorn than anticipated, only ending up 10 blocks away as the spa I thought of was not the same Dosha spa I had the appt. at. Frantically, I call Miranda, no answer, then run into the ever so busy Starbucks to ask where the Dosha Spa is and luckily it was just a few blocks down. It was 8:50 by then, so I practically book it to the spa and get there with 5 minutes to 9 and the hostess says, “you’re early”. Yes, I do hate being late.

Okay, upstairs I go to a world of peace and tranquility. I get a robe and slippers and a locker. I can enjoy tea or water while I wait for my 1 hour relaxation massage. It was so relaxing it just put me into a complete non-functioning vocabulary state. The girl was very nice, very professional and I kept wondering what it’s like to work there as a massage person. I know my dear friend C. is a good massage person and I remembered the anatomy classes. No, I don’t think it’s quite for me. But I admire those who can do that for others. Next I have 30 minutes to wait for my nail services. So I take a nice hot shower, there was a co-ed hot tub and steam room, but seeing the co-ed’s I opted not.

I must say it was probably good I was in a non-talkative state as my nail person seemed less then pleased with these pedicure and manicure tasks. I know it’s not the most rewarding job, but I had a hard time believing this was her choice of career. I learned a little about her, asked if she enjoyed the work and being at Dosha and she was more than happy to answer my questions with a curt reply. It was less enjoyable than I had anticipated and I pretty much wanted to get outta there as soon as possible, the results weren’t perfect, but forget asking to have her touch up anything I was afraid she might just start breathing fire.

Phew, that was done. Another 30 minutes to wait for my brow wax. Oh joy, nothing like hot wax on the skin to wrip out a few unruly brows. Anyway. The girl who did my wax was of course the sweetest, very talkative and outgoing, I wish she was my nail person too, but overall it was nice spa day for me and I was lucky to have a massage and get all spruced up for the trip.

Had a nice stop in to say hello to Miranda :) She’ll be looking after Guinness for us, I will miss him so much. Thanks, Miranda.

And thanks dearest work colleagues, for providing me a nice relaxing day at the Dosha Salon Spa.
