Meet Mozart…….

So, lately life has been a bit surreal. With the realization that my last day of work is just around the corner, April 2nd. Looming over me has been the continued thought of “what am I going to do without a laptop?”. So I’ve been incredibly conscientous of making sure I have a to do list for each day, especially the days I decided to take vacation from work.
So Saturday was “Shop for Laptops” day. It came down to the HP series or a complete 360 and considering a Macbook. At first I was completely intimidated by the Mac. I worked on them when I was a legal asst. in 1996-1999, and had it’s OS down pat. But after only being on front of a PC for 8 years, it was hard to imagine going back to Mac. Until I got to play on one. I had mixed feelings of course as compatability issues were a concern. But the HP and new Microsoft OS “Pista” as we are calling it really didn’t nock my socks off either. So after a rough Saturday of pounding the pavement to find my next laptop, I left myself at least 2 more days to think.
A nice break was having my sister come down on Sunday to deliver our Christmas gifts, I know, yes we are in March, but me and my sister have never held each other to the traditions. That’s why I love her. So I was debating on where to take her for brunch on Sunday, lots of ideas and suggestions, but decided the best place for her would be Mother’s. Of course the food was delicious not without a wait of 45 minutes, but well worth it. Then we went shopping. I tell you it’s not good this retail therapy, but I’m really loving shopping.
Okay so after that, oh and she gave us a GORGEOUS impressionist painting that she bought at an art auction. It’s just perfect in every way and her thoughtfulness was immeasurable. Oh and she so thoughtfully brought down some Hofbrau for Ryan which completely made his month. I am lucky to have such an awesome sister! It was a nice time with her. Thanks, Tracy.
Okay, so Monday. To do list. Finish up and turn in homework. Clean house, pick up new prescription glasses, stop by West Coast Health Fitness to find out about their membership since I’m losing free access to a gym, this was the best alternative since I’ve been more then willing to help myself to a 3rd helping of cookies, brownies, pound cake.. well you get the picture. Scale isn’t my friend these days and my motivation for running outside while raining, hasn’t really existed. SO - Results I signed up for a year at West Coast. They have yoga, circuit, strength training and cycling. Who can beat that! It’ll be nice being a part of a real gym I’m excited to get back into my cardio.
TODAY - Well today was the final decision on my laptop. I went to Office Depot, played with the HP’s there, still didn’t find the reflective coating of the laptops appealing, I didn’t like “Pista” it just reminded me of the Mac OS. Then I went to the Mac Store. Oh well let’s just say the show was over. I played more with the Macbook, learned more about my student discount that they offer, best of all, I could get my laptop from them in 1 hour!
SWEET! But, I told myself to go back to Best Buy. Played more, tried to lift, noticed the key pad keys were busted, I know the display model is always beaten up pretty good. Anyway. So I Called Ryan. And there you have it. Sooooo
Meet Mozart my new MacBook and I love it. I’m typing this blog on it too. What’s more is that I can sit between my work laptop and this one and MAKE absolutely sure I’ve got all that I want on my new Mozart.
Phew - What a day. I think I’ve spent more $$ in this week than the last 6 months. Youza. Oh and I had my first personal training session at West Coast. I loved it, it’s so down to earth it’s a place where people don’t care about being seen they care about getting and being healthy. What a concept for a gym.

I almost did the Mac thing, but I would have had to purchase (or steal) sooooooo much new software that it just seemed impossible. I also have a Creative mp3 player, so I couldn’t have it hooked up. So I ended up with a Dell. I love it so far - it’s got XP on it - no Vista for me, thanks. It’s not nearly as light as the PowerMac I had wanted, but I don’t really take it anywhere.
Hey you know it’s all about what works for you, hey Dell is a good company so I imagine your laptop works great.
That’s really what matters. ![]()

Congrats on your new mo-chine! Go you!
Hm. Personal trainer, eh? I’d love to have one. I don’t need the motivation so much as sound technical advice. I should hire some out-of-work ex-ski-racer. Wonder what my brother is doing these days…
Love my Dell, too, with XP on it. I’m not looking forward to the day when I finally have to give in and get stuck with an IT laptop. It’ll no doubt have Vista.
Yup!
Hey you are doing awesome without a personal trainer, so don’t you worry at all. Too much boo’s and bon bon’s for me is what I’m combatting! ![]()
