Happy 2007
Monday, January 1st, 2007 | General
Well, as always New Year’s Eve flew by and here we are at the dawning of the new year 2007. If there is anything we do right, it’s being able to celebrate the ringing in of the new year at our home with a few close friends and family. It gives me an excuse to graze on tasty treats such as fondue as I made for the Eve and drink as much champagne as I want, and I love it. While the holiday calories have started to manifest themselves in the expansion of my girth, I told myself to not feel depressed or guilty as I know as soon as my usual regime kicks in, those calories will be burned on the treadmill. I can only hope.
So, for me, this is a rather introspective time to examine and reflect on who I am, my life, goals and future. Trying to start a new year with a fresh outlook and perspective to inspire and motivate me to welcome the new year. With that comes my New Year’s list. The overly methodical and structured side of me loves lists, I love to write things down. So here goes. This year I will….
- Make it through my first full year of my MBA program
- Make decisions with more confidence, as R knows, I’m a terrible decision maker
- Stop worrying so much.. as my dear sweet Grandpa Jess used to say, “You can please some of the people some of the time, but, not all of the people all of the time”. I’ll just work on those some.
- Realize that a person’s recommendation is not a criticism
- I don’t have to make sure everything I do is perfect….I am not perfect.
- Enjoy something unique in every day.
- Point out the lesson learned in each challenge
So with that I should like to make a list of accomplishments for 2006…..
- Got accepted into the MBA program at Concordia
- Got my kitty that I’ve been wanting for all my life and I adore him!
- Got my office set up in the guest room, a nice desk and futon..it’s a place where I can focus and be productive on all that school work.
- Had a blast with R traveling to England and Scotland and staying with Friends in England and meeting up with our brother and Sister in law in Scotland
- Celebrating my 30 + (no need to focus on age :)) in Scotland with R, N and T, eating lots or rarebit, which is delicious and drinking gallons of tasty hand pumped beer.
Okay, I think that should do it, for now. So to R and to my friends and loved ones, thanks for your continuous support, encouragement and just plain love. I look forward to all the excuses to get together and enjoy those moments yet to be shared in 2007.
Here’s to You!
