Nothing like a pint at the pub to rewind, pause and put the feet up…

Balancing all the multitasking and infringement of what I used to know as “free time” has taken a toll on my constitution. Awakening the need to just take a break at least once or twice a night during the week. I found a tremendous amount of relief upon the spontaneous decision to meet R. at Rose & Thistle this past Wednesday evening.
One of our favorite Scottish pubs. I love this old picture of the guards at Stirling Castle. Too bad we didn’t see any guards dressed up like this while there.
Just thinking about sitting at a pub, with a nice pint, relaxing, rewinding and spending a little time in good conversation helped me realize that, yes, school is important and making priorities is vital to my success, meeting deadlines and performing at the top of my game, but my sanity is precious too. So on this occasion I can reflect on what all the hubub of school is about. It’s importance, and confirmation of why I’m doing this, but essentially it must be balanced with those activities that make life “brilliant” and enjoyable. School is wonderfully challenging and has rekindled my fervor to learn and broaden my scope of knowledge, but of course at a price. The price of my free time. It will all be worth it, I know.
