Comfort In Consistency
Tuesday, September 5th, 2006 | General
There is something about those things in life which are consistent that I find comfort. Just as some of us also do. There is just something in knowing that some things just won’t change. Amidst the barrage of inconsistent messages surrounding my place of work, I am finding the value and focus usually exhibited on a normal workday suddenly dilapidated. Therefore, I am going to bring value and focus to those pieces of my life that I CAN rely on.
I find comfort in the constency of……….
- The admiration, love and support for R.
- The care, support and love R shows for me.
- The generosity, love and support of my mother-in-law, Linda Mom.
- The appreciation, love and value I hold for my friends.
- Morrissey’s, Viva Hate album, one my most favorite albums, one of his best too, always reminds me of High School.
- That no matter what, shopping and most certainly purchasing something black makes the day, even week, better.
- Visiting this website featuring the cutest of things makes me smile.
- Spending time with my in laws always involves laughter.
- A mile or even 5 miles when running it will never get shorter, even if I really want it to, it’s always the same no matter how fast or slow I run.
- In my mind Tim Burton is a genius.
- Coffee in the morning, makes my day.
- The crisp, sensuous aromas that sings, It’s Fall! (pumpkins, apple spices, cinnamon..)
- The ending to, “It’s a Wonderful Life”.
- R and I love to pet kitties and doggies.
St. Bernards make me smile.
- Coming home at the end of the day and feeling “at home”.
I could go on and on, but taking this break helps weather the internal storm and knowing that I can rely on those things only makes it far easier to face a new day ahead with new news and new adventures. I appreciate all that I have and know to be consistent, in those things I can find true comfort.

Hang in there! Extra awesome points to you for using “dilapidated”.
St. Bernards make me smile, too. So do Great Danes, especially when their tongues are hanging out, ’cause they pretty much can’t help but look like they’re smiling the biggest doggy smile you’ve ever seen when they do that.
30 minutes on the elliptical is always 30 minutes, too. Just in case you were wondering. ![]()
Thanks, that made me smile!
I love Great Danes. Yes, the doggy smile… gets me everytime. There is something so incredibly heartening about the hugest of dogs having the hugest of hearts and tenderist of demeaners. Not an evil bone in their massive frame. ![]()
Yup. I miss my boy. Pheebs has a good doggy smile, though, too.

See Kel - you know what you’re talking about…enjoy the things that are important to you, by doing that all the angst of the ugly dissapates. The best therapy of all is the unconditional love of animals and you know you are ALWAYS welcome to receive and give love-n to my boys.

Thank you for getting me addicted to the cute animal site. Curses! I caught one of our pharmacists looking at it during her lunch yesterday. I guess it\\\’s going around.

Wow, a Linnaea response! Didn’t know you read the Vanderzanden blogs. Look forward to hearing your views etc.
Kel, you have such wonderful insight!! It’s pointless to worry about what hasn’t happened yet, what a waste of time! Instead enjoying and appreciating what you have: Ryan, your devoted friends, family, books, music, film, food, wine and all the doggies and kitties in the world.

Thanks ya’ll!
I am soooo lucky. Yes it is pointless to worry, and the best therapy is the time spent with friends, family and animals. Oh and looking at cute animals per the cuteoverload.com.
Aubrey I’ll be over to get my Louie , Hershey & Levi fix soon!
Thanks.
