Highlight of the week
Friday, September 1st, 2006 | ANIMALS
Upon looking back over this week and noting its highlights one of them was certainly the opportunity to check on my friend and coworker’s furry friends while she was basking on the beaches and diving with the turtles in Magnificent Maui. Stopping in at noon to give some love, food and relief to these little guys was the best part of my day. Sweet Mr. Louie a shephard with gorgeous markings welcomed me in eagerly with tail in full speed. I would let him outside while I pet the kitty’s , the Hershey and the Levi. Soon they would be purring and rubbing around my ankles with glee in, of course, anticipation for their delectible lunch. I think the usual afternoon meal was a fancy feast of chicken and rice. What more could a kitty ask for.
It was always a joy to give Louie lots of pettings. His back end always pushing against my legs so there is little effort expended on my part to petting him and then to have the kitties rub around my ankles, Levi especially would have to chat and tell me how hungry he was, when in actuality he ate the least of the two, with Hershey always at Levi’s dish still half full after Levi had feasted. Now that Miss. A. is back from the R& R she so deserved, the afternoon visits are a fond memory. I will certainly relish the walk I got to take Mr. Louie on one afternoon. He was a good boy, never barking when I arrived, nor when we took him walking even when other dogs would bark at him from their house. I just took him around the block and when we got closer to his home he seemed to just start to chatter away, not barking just a few doggie grunts and utters. Doggie talk for sure.
Which leads me to a marvelous book I am reading, Marley & Me. A story about an extremely hyper Lab/ retreiver who has some serious separation anxiety issues, but brings just so much laughter, tears, joy and even some frustration to its owners. The journey is now coming to and end and the sweet Marley is now a senoir citizen basically in dog years, I know what is to come next just as in life our animals come and go, but it’s the journey that makes it all worthwhile.

Ah, kitty-scratchies can be good therapy, both for kitty and human. Mr. Louie sounds cool.
Somebody brought Marley & Me to my attention at one point, and I almost bought it when I went to Borders some time back. I might like to borrow that from you when you finish.
Or I should see if I can download the audiobook so’s I can take up more space on my iPod. ![]()
So, I actually have Marley & me on loan from my friend and Coworker A. I might like to own it though, so I would be happy to loan it to you once I get my own copy. But if you can dowload the audiobook that would be awesome. I can see you listening to that on the train and just laughing and everyone turning to look at you wondering.. “what the heck is up with that guy”.. they start to move away from you. Hey that might be a good thing eh?
Meow.

Marley and Me has been on the top of the NY Times booklist for like a year or something. I have it on reserve at the library but it’ll be awhile. When are you guys getting some kind of a furry friend??

Oh soon.. I hope… soon. ![]()
